Konad New Plates delayed.

January 28th, 2010 by Toni | 2 Comments | Filed in Blathering about what today?, Konad and frenchies

I received an email from wowsocool.com today after ordering my new plates. They said the plates would be available in late February and shipped out then, so I guess it’s a wait for my polka dot mani! :(   Anyone else hear about this delay?

Thanks, ladies! I love y’all!

I like monochrome, so I wanted to try this! I think a different design would have been much cooler looking with the colors I chose. But irl, it looks a bit like fish scales, mermaidish… interesting. You can’t tell at first that it’s cheetah spots, so it just looks like this glowy scaly stuff, lol. FingerPaints Easel Come, Easel Go is a must have for me. I hope to be able to get a back up!

I can’t remember the plate number and am too lazy to drag it all out right now! And my right hand actually turned out better this time!

I love the full nail designs and this one is no exception. I probably could have chosen better colors, but I wanted this. It’s like frost over fall. But anyway, that’s my KOTD!

Again, I really like the Konad special polishes. This one is the Deep Purple. I didn’t do a fab Konading job on this mani, it was like 2 am. I really like it, though. The colors went great together.

OPI On the Same Paige Konad m41

OPI On the Same Paige is the orangeiest of all oranges and I love it. This pattern of flowers is one of my favorite images from plate 41. I didn’t think of it as Halloweeny even though it’s orange and black. It’s more of a “Welcome to fall!” But I suppose it can be Halloweeny, too!

Farewell to Summer Tribute Mani!

SH Xtreme Wear Bamboo Shoot Konad m64

I did this quickie mani for a summer picnic at the park thing, and love it. It was a real fun one with lots of comments! The plaid isn’t the easiest one to apply. You have to use a light but firm hand and not wiggle or move the stamp AT ALL. Also, my index fingernail is slightly twisted and it makes application on that nail a little more challenging. But it’s a cute look even with the boo boos! The base is SH Xtreme Wear Bamboo Shoot and the polish is Konad Special Polish in red.

This polish is very close to OPI Bubble Bath. The texture is nice and it goes on without streaks. Apply sheers with a light touch and it helps alot. This is 3 coats.

Polishes that work with Konad

September 20th, 2009 by Toni | No Comments | Filed in Konad and frenchies, Konading

I can name some specific polishes, but they all have one thing in common: they are all opaque or nearly so on the first coat. This includes most frosts, many darker shades, all the holos I’ve tried so far that aren’t glittery. Don’t even bother with a fast-dry polish on a Konad plate or a sheer. It will not work. Other than that, the sky’s the limit with Konading! Check out KonadUSA.com… it will put a spark in your eye! ;)

This pattern was much easier to stamp than I had anticipated. I like the brown princess polish, too. I’ve had a hard time finding a brown that’s opaque enough. This one will still only work over pretty light polishes. Note to self: try Orly Golden Maharahjah next!

I can’t say it enough…this polish is WOW. I added the zebra stripes and I said WOW again. My husband said WOW! It just came out beautifully. And I’m not even a big animal print fan, but I gotta say, this looks cool! ;)

For some reason, the gold just doesn’t show up great on any color. Really disappointing. The silver Princess Polish does a much better job. Unfortunately, it only comes in silver! I’m in the market for a dense gold, if anyone has a recommendation!

Misa Fashionista is from my favorite collection, the Runway Diva collection. I think it’s a 2005 release, but I love it anyway. It’s a dusty lavender that goes on beautifully and dries fast. The Konad design is done with a frost, Revlon’s No Shrinking Violet. I used the leopard print from plate m57 and I messed up only 1 nail!

Gorgeous navy blue cream, no black about it! Goes on great, dreis fast. This is 2 coats. I’ve used the Silver Princess Polish to Konad with plate s6. It was much easier to apply than I expected. I always shoot for perfection, but I’ve learned a little less than that still is really pretty decent! A for effort!

Konad supplies

Konad Supplies

Okay, so not the best picture. But these are the supplies you need to make the Konad designs on your nails. ALot of people have been asking so I wanted to show them and their size. (I have pretty small hands, but not teensy.)

I have the long one, a two-sided stamper, and a white stamper to pick up red polishes or other colors you can’t see easily with the other one. The flat thing on the right is the scraper. And of course, the silver thing is the image plate.

Orly Absolutely Orchid is awesome. A very plummy shade, but not too dark or too pink or too purple. It goes on so super smooth… I do love Orly formula. The Konad m65 flower pattern was pretty easy to do, too. Again, I love the wallpaper looking designs!

Misa cremes are so nice to apply. This one took two coats. It’s a brownish pink nude, a really beautiful neutral, not sheer at all. I will post a pic soon of it without the Konading.
I order Misa polishes at head2toebeauty.com, but there are other places. They’ve always been very accurate with my order, but it does take a little while to arrive.
The Konad design here was different to put on. I had to press harder than normal when applying it to get the pattern even. It took me a couple of tries to get this, and it isn’t perfect, but I’m pretty happy with it. I think my nails are actually a bit long for some of the wallpaper designs because they won’t cover my whole nail. Time for a trim, but I was getting to like the length. :(

I love the “wallpaper designs”! The designs that go over the whole nail appeal to me more than individual flowers, though I think those are pretty too. I’m just not as good at using those, honestly! I used the special polish here and didn’t have too much smearing. I think it’s really a case of using it correctly. You have to be so slight as to not touch the nail with the brush, using as few strokes as possible. Really glob the topcoat on! Just do it in two swipes or less.

I still got a smear with this one despite waiting overnight to topcoat. The black polish just smears. I’m going to accept that (for now.) The design is really neat, and DV8 is gorgeous on it’s own. I’ll post one soon!

I wanted you to have a sunlight pic of Catherine The Grape, but also see China Glaze’s holo OMG as the design on the nail. It works great with Konad, as all the holo shades, do.
